Didi Benami

Didi, you are way more talented than a lot of the other contestants on this show, but unfortunately you had to go first. I didn't know the first song she sang, but she sounded nice! And I loved her boots! I want them! Her second song was "Terrified" which she sang on the show. It was an awesome performance, but didn't have a ton of energy. I felt bad for her because everyone sat during her set. And just like that, she was off the stage.
Andrew Garcia

AKA the guy who sang "Straight Up" and do you what he did? Came out and sang "Straight Up." Well played, Andrew Garcia, well played. He also sang Maroon 5's "Sunday Morning" which I actually liked better. Just as he got the crowd going...his set was over. (Seriously...it felt like these people were on stage for 30 seconds.)
Katie Stevens

Ah Katie Stevens, I don't know why, but you were my least favorite contestant this season. And coming out in that God-awful outfit did not help. I have absolutely no idea what her first song was...but then something magical happened. She broke out into "Fighter", only the greatest Christina Aguilera song there ever was. You are granted a reprieve for that one, Katie, but I will never forgive your outfit choice.
Tim Urban

Timmy Urban, you sounded terrible. Both "Better Days" by The Goo Goo Dolls and "Viva la Vida" by Coldplay are not songs you should sing. Smartly, though, he left the top buttons on his shirt undone, so I don't think anyone else noticed how terrible his performances were. You're still adorable, buddy!
Siobhan Magnus

Siobhan Magnus confuses me. I am not quite sure why this girl was on American Idol. She is kind of the anti-American Idol, in her tutu and combat boots. However, I LOVED her set. I hated when she would scream on Idol, but her "glory note" at the end of "Paint it Black" was actually very effective. Then she sang No Doubt's "Spiderwebs"!!! (AKA my favorite song from ages 9-16, no big deal.) Her last song was a Muse song (again, what is this girl doing on Idol?), which again was actually really good!
Aaron Kelly

Definitely the biggest surprise of the show! Maybe I am biased, because I am a big fan of country music and he sang 3 country songs, but I thought he was one of the best of the night. Abbey and I referred to him as "the kindergartner they let on the show" when Idol was on, but he was like a real, live grown-up at the show! Keith Urban's "Somebody Like You", the Lonestar version of "Walking in Memphis" and Rascal Flatt's "Fast Cars and Freedom" were all excellent. Well done, lad.
After this, all those who had already performed came out to sing "The Climb", which we found hilarious because we had just been talking about how that song is terrible. Although, Katie Stevens was finally wearing an age appropriate outfit, so there's that. Also, I don't have a picture of this because I was sitting too close to the stage to get a shot of the whole group. Tough life, I know. Next we intermission, yipee!!
Mike Lynche

Oh Big Mike, you cheeseball you. He came out to the beginning of Maxwell's "This Woman's Work" and got on one knee front and center. Without Kara Dioguardi there to cry, it just wasn't the same. He then sang Indis Aria's "Ready For Love" which sounded nice, but was too low key. However, breaking out into "My Love" got my attention again. I do love me some JT. However, Big Mike as a rapper? No thanks.
Casey James

Casey's set was awesome, but we knew it would be. His guitar playing is superb, and it's a shame that he was encouraged to downplay that during the show. All of his songs were great, his hair looked great, everything was great great great. Then Big Mike came back out and they sang "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?", also great (but you already knew I would say that)

Crystal Bowersox (!!)

Crystal Bowersox, homegrown right here in Ohio. The crowd went crazy for her, as we Ohioians usually do when we see anything from Ohio (or whenever anyone says "O-H" as she smartly did). I don't feel like I need to write about how amazing she was because I think that is just a given. Her four songs (4 Non Blond's "What's Up" Melissa Etheridge's "Come to my Window" Patti Griffin's "Up to the Mountain" and Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart") were all perfect for her. The crowd was into it the entire time and she seemed genuinely taken aback by the out pour of love for her, which was really sweet.
Lee Dewyze

Oh, LeeLee Tonight you made me forget about my other imaginary boyfriend, Chris L, and fall in love with you. Like Crystal, he picked 5 songs that were great for him. A completely different version of "Beautiful Day" that was MUCH better than the version he sang on the show, "Rocket Man", "Hallelujah", "Treat Her Like a Lady" and Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody". And, there was not one time during his set that he looked like he was going to throw up on stage! A vast improvement from his Idol days! It was at this point in the show when I realized that my camera also could take pretty good videos, so I took one of him. Yay technology!
Then they all came back out for the finale, aka "what we learned from watching Glee." They did a mash-up (just like Glee) of "It's My Life" (a song they did a mash-up with on Glee) and "My Life Would Suck Without You" (a song they sang on Glee.)

And that is all, because if you think I waited outside with the crazies to meet them, well, you are crazy! Thanks again to my dear friend Abbey for braving this with me!!
