Project Runway: The Penultimate Elimination...

Ugh. Well, we all knew Gretchen would make in to fashion week the second she won the first two challenges. Don't get me wrong, she created some great looks at the beginning of the season, but everything since then has just been meh. Particularly this mini collection she showed during this week's show. But she made it, of course, at the cost of Michael Costello, which actually kind of broke my heart. His collection was beautiful (in my opinion, which is a very important one people) and he improved TREMENDOUSLY throughout the season. Watching his break down when he didn't make it was extremely troubling. Clearly, there is a lot more going on there then he shared with us. Sorry, Michael, you did a great job with your collection and should have been in fashion week.

Project Runway's final challenge before Fashion Week

Look at me, updating while I am on vacation! I had to get this post up as soon as I could because for the first time this season I was COMPLETELY shocked with the elimination. For the last several weeks I was sure that April was a shoe-in for fashion week. She really improved throughout the season and really bounced back from her one major disaster this season (think diaper). Gretchen was strong in the beginning, but she lost a lot of steam. And as much as Michael Costello has grown on me (and I did predict him making it to fashion week after seeing his leaked collection on Tom and Lorenzo), his dress did not wow me.

Project Runway Week 11

Wait, Mondo didn't win this challenge? Wait Gretchen was actually in the bottom. Interesting episode.

This challenge was different from any other this season. Designing activewear? Even if it is for Heidi Klum's collection, doesn't exactly read high fashion. Anyway, we all knew Christopher wasn't going to make it to fashion week, so it was no surprise that was eliminated this week. Andy's most likely next, so good for him that he won this week.

Also, I thought we were DONE with Ivy, was it really necessary to bring her back to accuse Michael Costello of cheating? Can we say bitter much?

Project Runway Week 10

Well kids, I felt a little sad at this week's elimination. Before I discovered the amazing Mondo (who by the way, won his THIRD challenge in a row, which was based on a struggle he has dealt with for the past 10 years, being HIV positive. You go Mondolicious) I had a favorite named Valerie. Yes, she cracked under the pressure and became a little cray cray, but I still liked her and was sad to see her go. Especially when Andy's outfit was so terrible and Christopher's was bland, AGAIN.



Her pattern wasn't that inspiring, and the dress did strongly resemble her napkin dress. But this was not terrible. Oh well, on to the next...

Project Runway Week 9

What is happening to this show? While this season seemed to be the most talented yet, here we are for the second week in a row with mostly shitty looks. Luckily our fav, Mondolicious was victorious again! YAY MONDO! To me, he was the only one who really accomplished both looks. His Couture look was high fashion, very Mondo-like and fit the challenge (he chose the bright make-up). His RTW was a dress that any woman would want, flattering and simple with just a little edge.



Even better than Mondo bear winning was Ivy FINALLY losing. Her dresses were terrible. TERRIBLE. Even compared to the other bad ensembles that runway saw in this challenge. TERRIBLE.



Finally, I hate to say it, but I don't think poor Val will last much longer. Sad, because I really like her.

Project Runway Week 8

Well kiddies, this week of Project Runway was slightly depressing. The designers were tossed a softball-American Sportswear inspired by Jackie Kennedy. Only Mondolicious got it and that is why he was a VERY deserving winner. Yay Mondo! He managed to create a sleek very modern Jackie Kennedy look with a Mondo twist:


Unfortunately, this week was the end of the road for my favorite sassy queen, Michael D. He will be missed, but this meant Valerie was safe and for some reason I am still cheering for her.

Project Runway Week 7

Project Runway Week 6

Well, after last week's amazing blowout by Tim Gunn on evil Gretchen, I thought the drama was over. Luckily, everyone still hates Michael Costello and Michael Costello keeps on winning. While he did a good job with his dress...

I still think Mondo's was better. Meanwhile, the lovely Peach was eliminated. She was fabulous, but her dress was terrible. It was time.

At this point last season, every desiginer left created a collection for fashion week, most of which were decoy, obviously. It will be interesting to see if the same goes for this season.

Project Runway Week 4

This week the designers created looks inspired by the hats of Philip Treacy. Unsurprisingly, Kristin's too literal interpretation of her orchid hat got her booted. A black and pink dress? Really? Despite the fact that April sent a diaper down the runway, it was still Kristin who had to go. A train wreck will always stay! As for everyone else...Gretchen was finally not in the top and I took great satisfaction in that.

Project Runway Week 3

Hooray, Gretchen finally isn't the winner! Best part, the person who truly deserved to win this week did! (I still love you Valerie, and your dress was faboosh!) But Andy's was incredible. So incredibly that I think it needs to be shared here:


Sarah's elimination wasn't too shocking, but I still think it should have been Casanova..who narrowly escaped once again.

Did I mention how incredibly annoying Gretchen is?

Project Runway Week 2

My original prediction for Top 3 was Mondo, Valerie and Ivy.. To me, all 3 looks were very Marie Claire. However, I wasn't surprise when Gretchen was top 3 again. Her look was modern (Jumpsuit alert!) and very photogenic. However, I was surprised that she won...I definitely thought Valerie had it, but I like Gretchen so I guess it's okay.

I understand why they don't like Peach's look, but I like Peach! She is so adorable. We all knew Tim Gunn's distaste for Nicholas' circle concept was foreshadowing for him being in the bottom. And Jason, well...yeah.

I really did not think they would eliminate two people, that it was just a big tease. But they surprised me! Nicholas' look was pretty bad, but I did not think he deserved to be eliminated, but then again I am no Heidi Klum, so my opinion doesn't matter. Jason, however, definitely needed to be out. The number of times he said "I'm straight" and "infinity" was too excessive for me.

Also excessive? The extra 30 minutes.

8.4 Quickies

-The American Idol auditions in New Jersey yesterday had over 17,000 people show up! Obviously the pandemonium going on behind the scenes is having no effect on first round auditions. For those who don't know, the first round "cattle-call" auditions are held in front of producers, who then choose the singers that will audition in front of the judges in the fall. So really, it doesn't matter that the judges are not in place yet.

-Wyclef Jean, who was born in Haiti, has announced that he is going to run for president of Haiti. In other news, I was born in Ohio and I am going to run for governor.

-Instead of blogging Project Runway, I am just going to discuss the person who gets voted off each week. I know I am super late this week but I also was super late watching it. I was surprised that McKell was the one who got voted off last week. I know her styling was terrible (really? A curly mohawk? And let's not even talk about that bag), but in my opinion her dress was a lot better than some of the unfinished/God awful (I'm looking at you Casanova) things that came down that runway. Oh well, on to the next!

-Also, I won't be watching The Rachel Zoe project because the best part about that show, aka Team TaylorandBrad is without one of its key members. No fighting? No tension? What is this? #notinterested #butistillloveyoubrad
