I went on vacation and now I am back. So it is time to (briefly) catch up on all the shows I missed.
On last week's Jersey Shore we learned The Situation is even more disgusting than we ever thought and that Snooki thinks of Vinny like her big brother, who she has sex with. We also learned that Ronnie's ex-girlfriend is Asian. Important things. Basically, in the end we saw (what I hope) is the beginning of the end of the friendship of Pauly and The Situation and the beginning of Vinny's relationship with Ramona (maybe, she also just might want to be on TV).
I know I said I wasn't interested in The Real Housewives of DC anymore, but the last two episodes plus the reunion made me change my mind on the entire season. In my opinion, this was one of the best reunions the franchise has had. There was fighting without the completely craziness. And the called Tareq and Michaele out in front of everyone, even Andy Cohen was in on this. Fantastic! I am now hoping for a season 2!
My new least favorite Real Housewives series is the brand new Beverly Hills edition. Maybe it will grow on me, but for now these women seem completely terrible. It is also a little sad to watch Camille Grammar live her life without realizing what is about to come...I suppose I will still watch it though.

The RHODC Reunion actually looks...good?
I know I was pretty hard on the RHODC, because they were dull and unappealing to me, HOWEVER, this preview for the reunion has definitely sparked my interest. Check it out!

8.18 RHODC: It's all just like red, white and blue ya know?
Previously on RHODC:
These women continue to be the most horribly drab thing that ever happened to the Real Housewives franchise.
We open with Cat and a reminder that she is writing a book. I think that is a new requirement when you join the ‘Housewives’ cast. Despite that fact that I may or may not own every piece of Bethenny Frankel merchandise on the planet, I WILL NOT be purchasing anything that comes out of the RHODC.
Stacie made the mistake of inviting Michaele to her friend’s vineyard. Seriously, do these people have to show up everywhere in a white limo? Michaele’s husband, who is more annoying than her, ruins everyone’s buzz while they are wine tasting. WTH, wine tasting is for getting wasted! Not getting technical! Michaele shares her well thought out political views, which essentially comes down to everything being red, white and blue. So wise, that one. I’m still not exactly sure if Stacie and her husband were truly inviting Michaele and her husband to Paris, but looks like they’re all going!
Three episodes in, I feel as if I am getting a better feel for these women, which leads me to my next point: I like Lynda. Yes, she told Michaele to eat a burger and fries, but that is awesome! I don’t buy that she is genuinely concerned about Michaele’s health, but that does not make me dislike her. She even feigns interest in Cat’s book! I can’t figure Cat’s life out. Her book is about falling out of love with her husband and in love with a married man…but who is Charles in all of this? I thought that had been married for a long time…? Apparently I can’t keep up.
Mary and her husband go out to lunch and he makes a Dick Cheney joke. Ha ha ha. Clever. Then they moan and bitch about Michael and Tareq are flashy and took over Paul’s party.
We finally get a scene with my favorite housewife this season, Paul! His publicist is paying him a visit to give him some news from crazy-town. Michaele’s attorney called to inform her that Tareq and Michaele will not be paying for Paul’s birthday party. Um, aren’t these people millionaires? What is wrong with them?? They couldn’t splurge on some sheet cake for a party they are hosting?!
Off to Paris! (Not for me, but God I wish.) Stacie and Michaele seem like unlikely friends, so this trip will most likely be awkward. Both Stacie and her husband (whose name I can never remember) seem to try in a polite way to tell us that they do not like Michaele and Tareq. Then they all groove together at a rap concert. Their words, not mine. The next day, Stacie and Michaele go shopping and we finally learn why Danielle Staub is looking for her birth mother…because she heard it was going to be a storyline on another ‘housewives’!!!! It all makes sense now!
Cat’s husband, a professional photographer, is too busy to take her picture for her book cover. Like Cat, I don’t exactly understand all the shopping bags and cell phone for a book about cheating on your husband, but whatever. But wait! Charles shows up just in the nick of time! Oh what a fairytale ending! A woman with a giant Louis Vuitton duffle makes far more sense for her book cover. (…)
The beauty of being on housewives is you get to go to a lot of cool parties and get your hair and makeup done by professionals. I wish this was my everyday life. However, I am thankful everyday that I don’t have to pretend to be friends with people like these. Tonight’s is with some hair stylists hosted by Mary. With goodie bags! And tension between Michaele and Lynda! And Cat’s continued distaste for American cuisine! And more accusations of racism!
Next week everyone fights. Bye!

8.12 RHODC: I Shall Call Him Sparkle
Previously on RHODC:
Michaele is obnoxious and her husband doesn’t pay people, or something
Lynda wants to tell anyone who will listen about Michaele being too skinny
Cat allegedly doesn’t like black people
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the fact that Michaele and her husband have not procreated. And seeing as she is FORTY FOUR (I thought I would shout it, since she would only whisper it), it looks like it won’t be happening. Phew. So anyway, it’s her birthday and she gets to pick out some presents (well, her husband only wanted her to pick out one, but of course that didn’t work.) Then she gets a horse? And names it Sparkle. Ah, every 8 year old's dream come true.
I’m curious to know if Lynda’s assistant was her assistant first or her son’s girlfriend first. Things to ponder. Also, Lynda is looking to buy a home. Exciting things these RHODC bring to the table! (When is someone going to pull a hair extensions out?! Sheesh)
Then we get a Mary segment where she bitches about her daughter’s dog.
I love Cat’s children simply because they speak with British accents. Don’t British accents make everything better? They sound so proper, even when they are saying very American things like “oh my GOSH”. Mary and Cat go to lunch and we finally get a little bit of juice as they smack talk Michaele and her lack of equestrianship and her stupid pink promises. But then they go back to talking about Mary’s daughter’s dog, so I tuned them out. Cat seems to be stepping on a lot of people’s toes…hmm maybe I’m not going to like her.
Michaele is planning a birthday party for our token 6th housewife, Paul Wharton, and they discuss who to leave off the list. Uh oh, sounds like drama! Later Michaele meets with another group of people to plan the party, and we find out that (SHOCK) Lynda threw his previous party, so Michaele has to do everything bigger and better than Lynda’s party.
Stacie decides she is going to bring her new friendies to Sunday dinner at her aunt’s house! Something tells me that everything Cat says at this dinner is going to be interpreted as racist!
We find out that Michaele used to work at Nordstrom as a make-up artist and that is how Mary met her. Which, naturally, makes her “second tier.” So the real question is, how did Michaele meet her husband? The women are pissed because Michaele is dressed like a rider and they are in jeans for their polo lessons. Anyway, the only thing this segment is making me think is how much I really want to buy a pair of riding boots for the fall.
Sunday dinner begins! This huge group of people is awkwardly scrunched into this house. Everyone is pissed because Cat doesn’t like her wine and tries to send it back to the kitchen. Then we have to hear about Stacie’s husband inventing a penis pump and I feel uncomfortable. So they finally eat and the food looks INCREDIBLE. Here is my opinion on the Cat situation (because I know you are interested.) She is the outsider, she is the one who doesn’t know anyone and also has not lived in America for that long, so she overcompensates and sometimes crosses the line. Hopefully she will resolve this issue. Stacie disagrees and thinks she is racist (again).
Michaele is officially the worst party hostess ever. Showing up in that white stretch limo with a police escort? Umm wth? I think honorary 6th housewife Paul Wharton is probably my favorite. He doesn’t do much shit talking and he has nice hair. Also, I really like Cat’s husband Charles. I hope we get to hear him talk about his job more…since he is the only person on the cast with any kind of political ties…on the Real Housewives of WASHINGTON DC. We get the beginning of a fight...which promises to continue the rest of the season!
Next week…Michaele and Stacie (unlikely friends?) go to Paris together

8.5 RHODC Premiere: Meh.
And so begins another “Real Housewives.” This time we are in DC! Exciting city, not-so exciting housewives. Although, I will not completely write them off yet because they are new at this so they are still awkward/nervous on camera.
Mary
Mary’s opening line is “I don’t make money, I spend money.” Clever. Mary seems to be the only one (besides Cat) who has any remotely close political ties, so there’s that. Her husband does not seem to join her anywhere (even at her birthday party…), but he does own red pants. The security pad on his closet reaffirmed my distaste for her. Then she got drunk and said that they should not integrate salons….Yep.
Lynda
Lynda the cougar runs a modeling agency, but in DC who really knows what that means. Is it possible that she is a former model? Wouldn’t surprise me. She pretends her concern is legit about Michaeles weight…my guess? It’s not. Her relationship between her and Michaele should be interesting as it plays out this season and will probably be a source for a lot of the drama.
Stacie
Stacie seems completely legitimate at first. She went to Harvard Business school, has a job (well, in real estate), seems to have a normal home life with her husband and two adorable children. Then she pulls the race card because Cat doesn’t like Tyra Banks and prefers Bush to Obama. We’ve seen one white woman mixed with a group of black women in Atlanta, so it will be interesting to see the opposite here.
Cat
Cat has recently moved to DC from across the pond, much to the delight of her children. I imagine Cat’s daughters wanted to move to American after watching Jersey Shore. I mean, who wouldn’t? Naturally, she is writing a book, because if you didn’t know all housewives are authors. She also dislikes Tyra Banks, which I find hilarious but I don’t think the other women are impressed. So far I think I like her as I believe she may fill the British void that Simon Cowell has left in my life.

I already dislike her…not because of the white house party crashing nonsense, but because she claimed that Whoopi Goldberg hit her. She refers to herself as an average, normal girl before she met her husband. Sure, because all average, normal girls are models, obviously. She tries very hard to convince us that there is substance to her. Guess what! There isn’t. No seriously, she makes me uncomfortable. She is clearly the outcast of the group, even called “second tier level” by Lynda. Not a fan.
Is this Paul character the honorary 6th housewife? He appears to be everywhere. The jury is still out on him. But he seems to be playing all sides. I hope that he is not a Kim G in the making.
We’ll see what happens…
